Frequently Asked Questions

  • Coordinating outfits can seem like a daunting task, but I’m here to help! If you’d like, I have example pinterest boards & I’d be happy to share those links with you! If you want my advice on what I think looks best, send me photos of what you are thinking & I’d be happy to give my opinion! Here are some tips:

Coordinate, but don’t go for matchy matchy. I like to start out with a basic color palette & go from there. It can help to have one person in the photos who carries a pattern in their clothing that the rest of the group’s clothing can pull from, while keeping everyone else’s outfits more simple. It seems easier to find the “center stage” pieces in girl’s & women’s clothing, and then pull colors from there to create a look for the boys/dad. Don’t know what color palette to choose? Neutral is always flattering!

Layers & textures! They add interest. I love using multiple textures and layers, especially when working with a more neutral color palette. One of the ways to achieve this is with different clothing materials & accents - crochet, lace, ribbons, ruffles, cardigans, hats, etc. This can add dimension to the overall texture of the image.

Try to avoid wearing anything with big logos, graphics, characters, or labels. This can be distracting and take away from the true focus of the photos.

Keep in mind that everything I listed here is for you to decide in the end, these are YOUR photos & ultimately my biggest concern is that YOU love them. In the end, if you want to break all of the “rules” I’m all for it!

  • A good mood is the most important thing! Make sure you have enough time to prepare beforehand so you aren’t rushing and stressed! Wear clothing you feel confident and comfortable in, and be open to having a good time! Stress to your spouse how important their participation is to you. (dad’s we’re talking about you!)

  • I love candid moments & real emotions between the people that I get to photograph.

During our session I’ll focus on helping you & your family pose by “prompting” you to do certain things in order to create a candid moment! I love getting movement in my images, it really makes them come to life and tell a story. When you look back on the images, I want you to smile & remember how much fun you had!

Standing in front of a camera can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be! I want you to be as comfortable as possible & will feed off of the energy I feel from you as well so that I can cater my style to you! As far as my editing style - I would describe it at true to life, rich, and golden (I love that light right before sunset the best!).

  • Absolutely! I color correct & retouch each image, by hand, to make sure they are perfect. My retouching method is a core part of my creative process. If there’s anything you would like specifically removed or retouched you will need to let me know.

Please understand that there are some limits to what I can do. Removing acne, removing some objects, etc. are usually within my range of abilities. If the editing you need is more extensive than there may be a small additional fee per image, if the editing you request is more than I’m capable of, I can outsource to someone who can do it for a small fee if you would like.

  • I specialize in outdoor photography, natural light is my jam! I do also love in - home sessions. I would be happy to make suggestions, or feel free to let me know if you have something specific in mind. I’d love to talk about your ideas so just shoot me a message and we can chat about the details! I do require a travel fee of $1.25/mile both ways for every mile over 35 miles from Van, Tx.
